Luxury fashion house Maison Margiela is often recognized for its experimental designs in pushing its own creative boundaries in the definition of fashion — the latest Trench-Style Shorts follows through with that reputation. It takes a pair of standard shorts and completely disrupts it through the design language with a strong inspiration drawn from the aesthetics of a trench coat.
The shorts feature components including a draping structure, all-black hues, and a belted design. The front of the shorts boast buttons down the middle and come together to form a double-breasted enclosure to directly mimic the look of a trench coat. The back feature an inverted pleating detail that looks like a skirt rounded out with tonal organza with a streamlined look.
